We are pleased to offer this unforgettable train as the ideal treat for Fathers Day and exclusive to Kingfisher Railtours, offering the unique opportunity to travel over two of the most taxing and spectacular routes over the very backbone of England to Carlisle, the west coast route over Shap summit and the Settle to Carlisle line.  Our train will be hauled by Princess Coronation Pacific No 6201 ‘Princess Elizabeth’
Our train is diesel hauled to Carnforth, where our lovingly restored steam engine will take over for the exhilarating 1 in 75 climb to Tebay and then Shap summit offering stunning views over Kendal and the Lakeland Mountains before we continue our picturesque journey to the border city of Carlisle where we will have a break for a couple of hours whilst our engine is serviced.
On departure we join the most legendary of rail routes as our engine prepares to do battle with the famous Settle & Carlisle line. You will be enthralled as we head up the lush Eden Valley to Appleby, where the train stops for a short break to take water, this should allow photographic opportunities and the chance to chat with the driver and fireman.  We then depart on the most thrilling portion of the journey as our locomotive does battle with the ‘long drag’ over the roof of England.  With great limestone peaks and deep valleys we travel over no fewer than 19 viaducts and 12 tunnels on this masterpiece of Victorian engineering including the famous Ribblehead Viaduct. 
At Hellifield we bid farewell to our sterling steam traction as we return homeward behind a more modern locomotive.

A full English breakfast and 4 course Dinner will be silver served at your reserved seat by our liveried stewards.  An extensive wine list is available and guests in Pullman class will also be served a complimentary ½ bottle of wine with Dinner.
