This is a very special diesel hauled train offering a day out not to be missed as we travel to Eastbourne where the biggest annual airshow in Britain is staged on the promenade and seashore. Aerial displays are expected to include the Royal Navy, Army, Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, Falcon Freefall Parachute Team and many, many more international aircraft offering acrobatic and ground displays with hours of continuous action on Eastbourne seafront.
Commencing from Taunton we take the main line route to Bristol, then alongside the River Avon on the pretty line through Trowbridge and the Berks & Hants to Reading. At Clapham Junction we join the Brighton line for a fast run past Gatwick Airport and towards the Sussex Downs passing Lewes prior to our arrival in Eastbourne around lunch time. Around four hours will be available at your leisure to view the spectacle of ‘Airbourne 2008’.
Held to be one of the sunniest resorts in England Eastbourne owes much to the Victorians who laid out many beautiful parks and gardens and built the pier. Apart from the airshow this elegant town has many charms awaiting discovery. Our train returns in the late afternoon and we retrace our outward journey.
